5MU’s Barry Martin was indeed lucky to have grown up and entered commercial radio in the rock and roll and “Beatles” eras of the 50’s and 60’s. Barry’s radio career has spanned over four decades, during which time he fronted contemporary music programs in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Launceston, Townsville and several rural markets.

In 1972 he teamed with Perth personality John K Watts, to host Australia’s first two man breakfast team on station 6PM, and over a 15 year period rated either number 1 or 2 in a 6 station market, averaging 41% over a three year period.

Now Barry is heard on 5MU weeknights, and hosts popular weekend radio programs, including “Radio Classifieds” on Saturday mornings and “Sunday Gold” from 8 till Noon Sundays. He and wife Roxanne now live on a farm near Callington.
