New York auction house Gotta Have Rock and Roll are set to privately sell an album containing nine unheard songs from the late 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson. Initially set to go under the hammer in a public online auction that was set to last from July 19th to 28th, a representative of the site said in a statement to Rolling Stone that, "due to an overwhelming response, interest and media attention, all parties involved in the sale of the Michael Jackson unreleased album wish to keep the integrity of Michael Jackson's legacy by removing it from public auction... Those interested in purchasing can still listen to the album by appointment."
The album in question is recorded on a blank disc with only the word 'Bible' written in pen on it. It contains mixes of three songs which have already been publicly heard on 2010 release Michael: 'Monster', 'Breaking News' and 'Keep Your Head Up'. The other tracks, of reportedly master quality, have not been released.
The eventual buyer of the CD will not own the rights to the music and as such, cannot distribute it. Even so, the starting bid on the item was set at US$50,000 with many believing the final price will push $1 million. Other items in the auction include clothing, teddy bears and self-portraits drawn by hand. The tracklist for the album up for sale can be found below.
