Ashley Porter - The Wooden Boat Festival In Glorious Goolwa

The Lakeside Goolwa SA Wooden boat festival is back this year with boats from putt putt's to big beautiful paddle steamers.

Committee member Ashley Porter stopped by to give us some idea on what to expect when we hit the south coast this weekend.

On Saturday April 22

Open 9am until 9pm
9.30am Putt Putt, Steam Launch, Electric Boat and Speedboat Parade
10am Paddle Steamer cruises (until 5pm) St Ayles Skiffs
11am Sailing Race - Traditional Vintage Sailing Yachts
11.30am Canoe, Kayak, Row Boat, Dinghy, Sailing Dinghy Parade
12noon Festival Official Opening (on the front of the P.S. Oscar W)
12.30pm Grand Parade of all boats, led by P.S. Oscar W & P.S. Marion “Concourse d’Elegance judging”
1-5pm Pond Yachts/ Model Boat Display - Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club
1.30pm Halvorsen Raft Up
2.00pm Rough & Ready Boat Building
2.30pm Sailing Race - Restricted 21s
3.30pm St Ayles Skiffs
4.30pm Paddle Boat and Boats 6m+ Parade
6.30pm Fairy Light Parade
Evening Fireworks over the bridge

On Sunday April 23

Open 9am until 5pm
8am Rowing Skulls
9.30am Putt Putt, Steam Launch, Electric Boat and Speedboat Parade
10am Paddle Steamer cruises (until 5pm) St Ayles Skiffs
11am Sailing Race - Restricted 21s
11am-3pm Pond Yachts / Model Boat Display - Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club
11.30am Canoe, Kayak, Row Boat, Dinghy, Sailing Dinghy Parade
12 noon Presentation of awards - P.S. Oscar W
12.30pm Paddle Boat and Boats 6m+ Parade
1.00pm Sailing Race - Traditional Vintage Sailing Yachts - Other Sailing Boats
1.30pm St Ayles Skiffs
2.30pm Rough and Ready Race - Sail or Sink!
4pm Grand Parade of ALL boats led by the paddle steamer P.S. Oscar W & P.S. Marion
