Former Adelaide Crow and Nairne-Bremer HFL premiership player Chris Ladhams is about to get locked up in the Old Adelaide Gaol raising money and awareness for childhood dementia.
Childhood dementia results from progressive brain damage and is caused by over 100 rare genetic disorders. Confusion, loss of memory and loss of speech are a few of the symptoms.
More than 2,000 Australian children have the rare genetic disorder, which was responsible for the deaths of 91 children last year.
Chris Ladhams told ARN’s Adam and Jennie that he was inspired by his lifelong mentor Chris McDermott.
“He’s been a great mentor to me and the Little Heroes Foundation has always been my charity to help him out … and just families in need, being a father of two and when you’ve got kids you see what Chris does in the background and you go geez, if touch wood, something would happen you’ve got that support,” Chris Ladhams said.
The pair will be ‘detained’ with 6 other participants for 12 hours on the 28th of August to raise money and awareness for childhood dementia and the affect it has on children and their families.
