Hundreds of Adelaide Hills properties are set to be a part of a bin collection trial to reduce landfill.
From October 24, general waste pick-up will be reduced to once every two weeks for about 600 properties around Lenswood and Woodside.
Green bins for organic waste will be picked up weekly instead.
A recent bin audit in the region shows more than half of waste could be diverted from landfill by more thoughtfully using the recycling or green bins instead.
It comes as the State Government is looking to review weekly kerbside collection strategies in metropolitan Adelaide as part of a broader exploration of the “circular economy” aiming to reuse and regenerate materials and products in a sustainable way.
