Work on a major construction project in the Adelaide Hills will soon get underway.
The Cedars at Hahndorf has been given permission to construct a gallery at their historic cultural site, in order to showcase the life and work of the renowned landscape painter Hans Heysen.
The gallery construction costs are being subsidised by the State Government to the tune of $9M and will include a bushfire-safe art storage facility and gift shop.
The new development, designed by SnØhetta, will incorporate the surrounding natural landscape on the hillside above the original studios of Hans and Nora Heysen and the family’s historic home.
Work on the new development is expected to commence in the coming months.
