Passionate Adelaide Hills winemaker Thomas Northcott has been presented with the Sustainable Business Leaders Award at InDaily’s 40 Under 40 Awards at Adelaide Oval.
The 40 Under 40 Awards celebrates the passion, vision and achievements of South Australia’s young entrepreneurs and leaders.
The Director, Co-owner & Winemaker of Howard Vineyard has been recognised for his strong leadership on ongoing restoration of the land at Nairne, following on from bushfires in 2019/20.
“Thomas is leading the charge to ensure regeneration is done sustainably, organically and with a diverse range of grapes,” InDaily writes.
In an interview with ARN’s Adam Connelly and Jennie Lenman, Thomas said he was proud of his team’s achievements.
“It’s wonderful to have my name on it but it really is representative of our business and all of the people that work in it, you know there’s so many people that are involved in our sustainability initiatives,” he said.
The team works with Hills Biodiversity and volunteers to assist the protection of remnant native vegetation and removal of pest species in order to increase native biodiversity. They also take part in the Flows for the Future Program, to improve the health and resilience of catchments in the Eastern Mount Lofty Ranges.
Thomas welcomes anyone who would like to take part in a revegetation event on Sunday 11 August, to help plant 500-1,000 native plants, to book on eventbrite.com.au.
Another local winner in this year’s 40 Under 40 Awards was the Director of Adelaide Hills Lawns & Gardens, Jarrad Tait, who began the garden maintenance and landscaping business in 2013 and has grown the company to a team of 60.
Jarrad was recognised for his enthusiasm in providing quality garden, lawn care and landscaping and creating “Australia’s best workplace” by prioritising his team.
