The first rotation of SA CFS volunteers have returned home from Central Northern Territory overnight, including several members of brigades in the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Crews, together with Bushfires NT and a NSW deployment, have helped get the Tenant Creek fire from a Watch and Act level to an Advice.
Despite the official emergency alert ending, the situation remains “serious” according to Bushfires NT and work to control the threat is ongoing.
Volunteers say there were some incredibly long and challenging days of bushfire management in the four to five day deployment, including digging trenches and conducting burnoffs to help prevent the spread of fire.
New volunteers from the Eyre Peninsula and Far North headed up on Saturday as part of Taskforce Two to take over.
