Willunga has handed Victor Harbor their first loss of 2025, with the blockbuster matchup living up to the billing on Saturday as part of Round 8 action.
The Demons trailed at every change before charging home in the last quarter, kicking 3.4 to 0.3 to win by 3, moving them equal with the Roos on 7-1.
McLaren Districts moved into first on percentage after they belted Goolwa Port Elliot by 240 points, while Encounter Bay’s 41-point win over Mount Compass has created a two-game gap between fifth and sixth.
HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (Division One results here, Country Division results here)
Nairne Bremer is now the new leader of Division One of the Hills Footy League, after they won a 6-point epic against former pacesetters Mount Lofty in Round 7 play.
The Devils only had themselves to blame as they kicked 11.17, with the Rams taking their chances to hold on in a potential grand final preview.
Other matches saw Lobethal impress with a 28-point win over Mount Barker on the road, while Hahndorf and Uraidla Districts both won easily.
A chaotic round of Country Division footy had it all, with Echunga losing their first game of 2025 by 26 points to Kersbrook, Meadows and Birdwood drawing in a low-scoring arm-wrestle and Kangarilla beating Torrens Valley by 263 points.
RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
The top five in the River Murray Footy League is starting to spread out, after the Coorong Cats and Jervois held on for tight wins against finals hopefuls on Saturday.
The league pacesetters were made to sweat as they kept their winning streaks going, with the Cats and Bluds holding off late surges from Southern Mallee and Tailem Bend respectively to win by less than three goals.
Elsewhere, Imperial moved into outright third with a 21-point win over Mypolonga and Rambler won its second game of the year with a 43-point win over Mallee Districts.
