The driver of a Tesla who hit a barrier of the South Eastern Freeway and veered onto the wrong side of the road near Stirling was suffering a medical episode at the time.
SAPOL has confirmed the cause of the crash on Sunday which was captured in dashcam footage and shared to thousands of people on the Dashcams Adelaide Facebook group yesterday.
Police and emergency services attended the scene around 12.30pm.
The 70-year-old driver allegedly hit a barrier, swerved, drove down the up-track of the freeway, narrowly missed several cars and hit the other barrier.
He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment. It is unclear what his current condition is.
There were no other reported injuries, though a passenger in a nearby car has told Seven News about the ordeal.
“Half a second faster and he’d be probably dead, he was out of control, you don’t know which way he was going to turn… we can hear the Tesla driver banging onto like the side of the bank or something and there was debris from his car smashing onto our car,” Molly Luo told Seven News.
