Australian actress Toni Collette and producers Gary Hamilton and Victoria Hill are in the hunt for Oscars.
One of the first major pre-Oscar tests, the release of nominations for the Gotham Independent Film Awards, gave nods on Thursday to Collette for her stunning performance as a bereaved mother in the horror film Hereditary, and Hamilton and Hill for their critically-acclaimed drama-thriller First Reformed.
Collette will compete for the Gotham best actress award with Glenn Close (The Wife), Kathryn Hahn (Private Life), Regina Hall (Support the Girls) and Michelle Pfeiffer (Where is Kyra?)
First Reformed, starring Ethan Hawke as a priest in upstate New York, is nominated for best feature with The Favourite, If Beale Street Could Talk, Madeline's Madeline and The Rider.
Hawke was nominated for best actor alongside Adam Driver (BlacKkKlansman), Ben Foster (Leave No Trace) Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and Lakeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother You).
The Gotham winners will be announced in New York on November 26.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce its nominees on January 22 and the winners will be revealed on February 24.
