Flood Risk Still Present For The Adelaide Hills

The SES is advising people to be aware of risks to their safety after destructive winds tore across the state on the weekend.

We’re being advised to check homes for damage, and not to turn the power back on if there is flooding or structural damage.

Check your property for damage. Stay well clear of fallen trees, power lines and other damaged structures. If your property has been damaged do not turn your electricity back on until it has been checked by a qualified electrician. Be aware that debris may be present on the ground.

All the severe weather warnings have now been cancelled but there is still a flooding risk for areas of the Adelaide Hills as rivers and creeks continue to deal with high volumes of water.

Mt Barker Rd between Verdun and Hahndorf has now reopened after flooding forced its closure yesterday, parts of Oakbank also experiencing flooded roads in yesterday’s downpour while rock slides have parts of Gorge Rd closed near Castambul.

There is still a risk for localised flooding for the Upper Onkaparinga River which may threaten properties upstream from Verdun.
