SA Liberals Will Reverse Speed Limit Reductions On Regional Roads

Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick has backed a plan by his party, to reverse a decision to drop the speed limit on some country roads across SA.

The Weatherill Government dropped the speed on the Browns Well and Ngarkat Highways from 110km an hour to 100km recently, causing backlash from some local communities.

Mr Pederick says a Marshall Liberal Government will reverse that decision, saying they understand the importance of the road network for regional SA and those who have to travel long distances.

“The reality is that regional South Australians have to travel long distances on our country roads for a range of reasons, whether it be to get to work or to access health care and other services."

“The longer motorists spend travelling on our country roads the more driver fatigue they experience and the greater the chance of an accident."

“It’s unacceptable that this city-centric Weatherill Government has slashed speed limits instead of investing in critical regional road infrastructure."

“I have been inundated with feedback from the local community that overwhelmingly opposes these speed limit cuts."
