There are concerns that hundreds of galahs have been poisoned in the Lake Alexandrina region, the birds literally falling out of the sky.
A local wildlife carer raised the alarm after finding a handful of birds face down in the dirt with their claws balled up.
She sent then off for testing, authorities finding organ issues which suggests poison, they’re now undergoing toxic screening to find out exactly what the poison is and give them some idea where to look for a source.
The poison may also be affecting other birds including magpies, pigeons and birds of prey such as eagles which have been found from Milang to Goolwa and as far away as Murray Bridge.
