South Australia has temporarily banned travel exemptions on compassionate grounds for overseas visitors while the process is reviewed.
It comes after a traveller from the UK was allowed to enter SA to visit a dying relative via Melbourne after spending only one week in quarantine.
The woman in her 50s later tested positive to COVID-19.
The ban will not apply to domestic travellers which will continue to be made on a case-by-case basis and SA Health is promising better communication with their interstate colleague and when when international exemptions resume, details will be exchanged verbally, not online.
