Murray Bridge Fire Kills Dog and Injures Resident

A man has been taken to hospital and his dog has died in a Murray Bridge structure fire.

At 3.55am, MFS and CFS crews were called to Old Swanport Road where they arrived to find an outbuilding completely ablaze.

The 35-year-old occupant was treated at the scene for significant burns and was then taken to hospital.

No one else was injured in the incident but the resident's pet died in the fire. 

Crews took 20 minutes to contain the blaze.

The estimated damage bill for the property is sitting at around $10,000.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
