The Member for Finniss, David Basham, is taking over the Primary Industries and Regional Development portfolio from today.
Livestock SA Chief Executive Officer Andrew Curtis said the role is ideal as Mr Basham has a great deal of experience in industry advocacy.
“He is an experienced dairy farmer and was the President of the South Australian Dairyfarmers’ Association and national advocacy group Australian Dairy Farmers," Andrew Curtis said.
“His knowledge of water policy, international markets and biosecurity will be of great value in his new role."
Premier Steven Marshall announced Minister Basham’s appointment on Tuesday afternoon, along with Member for Morphett Steven Patterson taking on Trade and Investment and the Member for Hartley and speaker Vincent Tarzia taking on the Police portfolio.
It follows the resignation of Stephan Knoll, David Ridgway and Tim Whetstone at the weekend, amid intense public scrutiny of their perks and travel expenses.
Two Liberal Hills MPs may be considered to take over the role of Speaker of the SA House.
Adelaide Now reports that well placed liberal sources suggest there is a looming contest between Dan Cregan and Josh Teague.
