The Murraylands community has come together to tackle domestic violence (DV).

A new YouTube campaign video 'You Are Not Alone' and shorter clip ‘Let’s Break the Silence’  is the collaborative effort of local community members, sporting clubs, first responders, politicians, mayors and school children.

Incidents of family violence have increased during the coronavirus pandemic and the Murraylands Domestic Violence Awareness Group wanted to create a message of support and encouragement for victims to seek help.

"Domestic violence affects everyone in a community," the message reads.

"This video is to communicate the message that anyone who is suffering at the hands of an abuser, there is help and support available. You don't have to suffer alone and in silence. Reach out."

Shawn Hicks from the Murraylands Domestic Violence Awareness Group was awarded the Lions City of Adelaide and SAPOL Citizen of the year award in 2019 for his advocacy work.
