Strathalbyn could be home to a rehabilitation facility in future.
Teen Challenge SA has entered into a contract to purchase Dunreath Homestead, the former conference centre next to the former Clipsal factory, as a space to run its 'Living Free' program.
The voluntary program would assist men over the age of 18 who want to overcome substance abuse and mental health issues.
The organisation has applied with Alexandrina Council to change the use of the homestead to a Training and Support Facility with associated on-site accommodation.
Adjoining residents were sent letters notifying them of the application and were given an opportunity to respond to the plan before September 9.
Some residents have expressed concern on social media about the idea of having a rehab centre next door.
