The search for missing skipper Tony Higgins and his boat near the Murray Mouth has been abandoned.
The 57-year-old made a distress call around 5am on Tuesday 22 September, saying his boat had broken its moorings and was taking on water.
An extensive search covering around 500 square kilometres has only resulted in the discovery of debris from the Margrel and personal items belonging to Mr Higgins.
SAPOL’s fixed wing aircraft and police helicopter were unable to be used due to unfavourable weather conditions.
Anyone who finds debris along the coastline is asked to contact the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
