Drink Driver Allegedly Assaults Police Officer in Meningie

A drink driver will face court today after being caught on a scooter in Meningie on Friday.

Just after 7pm Friday 25 September police were called to the Princes Highway after reports of an intoxicated man attempting to ride a scooter.

When police arrived at the scene the 33-year-old local man allegedly lashed out at the officer attempting to kick her.

The man was capsicum sprayed and placed under arrest.

He has been charged with assault emergency services worker, drink driving after he allegedly returned a positive breath test of 0.173, and drive unregistered, uninsured and unlicensed.

He was refused bail and will appear in court today, Monday 28 September. His scooter was also impounded for 28 days.
