An active member of the Swan Reach community has just started a new role as Manager of Riverland Wine.
Jo Pippos (pictured) has been appointed to the position, taking the helm at a challenging time for the Australian wine industry.
She is leaving her role as General Manager at Swan Reach almond company 'Costa Brothers Hullers & Shellers' to take up the top job and brings long-term experience from her role on the Almond Board of Australia with her.
Ms Pippos said she is elated to have been chosen for the role.
"I love the Riverland and am excited about working collaboratively with its wine community to accelerate the region into this next decade where strategic management will count for everything," Ms Pippos said.
Chris Byrne, the outgoing Executive Chair of Riverland Wine, will retain the Chairmanship of the combined Industry Development Council as he transitions his executive responsibilities to Jo.
Chair of Riverland Winegrape Growers Association, Brett Proud said the Riverland Wine Management Committee are thrilled to have an experienced leader on the board.
"Her skills, knowledge and approach made her a standout choice and the way forward seems set for growth and success. She has large shoes to fill but the expertise to do it," Mr Proud said.
He has also acknowledged and thanked Chris Byrne for his long term contribution to the Riverland wine community.
"Through boom and bust, drought and flood, his tenure has seen every challenge and his dedication and commitment is unmatched. It is his legacy which leaves us positioned on the verge of a new era where the Riverland will be recognised as the Australian wine powerhouse it is."
