A new supermarket has opened in the Adelaide Hills this morning.
ALDI Stirling at 3-5 Pomona Rd joins Woolworths and Foodland in the bustling village town.
While discount shoppers are thrilled with the $7.2 million development, the store has been the cause of controversy since development plans were released in 2019
Residents attempted to revoke ALDI’s development approval with Council at the time, claiming the location, near the roundabout to the freeway, was not an appropriate site as it was zoned at the fringe of the business area.
ALDI Stirling will be supported by a team of 15-20 permanent full and part-time employees.
Viktor Jakupec, Regional Managing Director of South Australia, ALDI Australia said the chain offers a supermarket experience that is like no other in Australia.
“Low prices are a big deal for ALDI. This is our fundamental point of difference and one that customers will notice when looking at their grocery receipts each week," Viktor Jakupec said.
Opening hours will be 8:30am-8pm Monday to Friday, with extended hours until 9pm Thursday. Weekend hours will be 8am-5pm Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday.
