A free legal service is available to help military veterans and families who want to make a submission to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.

The Federal Government has announced it is extending the reporting deadline for the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, which was set to conclude in June this year, but will now conclude in October 13 2023.

Legal Services Commission CEO Gabrielle Canny (pictured) said the service (via 1300 366 424) is increasingly dealing with the family members of veterans who want to ensure their loved one receives the assistance they are entitled to.

“The family members and supporters of veterans can engage with the Royal Commission to share their stories of supporting their loved ones - and we can help them with that," said Ms Canny.

Veterans grappling with legal problems regarding military compensation, family law matters or veterans’ entitlements can also contact the hotline.
