Residents in the Alexandrina district are invited to have their say on how Council tackles the challenges of Climate Change in future.
With the support of the Climate Emergency Advisory Committee, Alexandrina Council has prepared a draft Climate Change Policy in order to establish a framework for climate change mitigation and adaption in Council's processes and operations.
The region is part of the Murray Basin and climate projections indicate that average temperatures will continue to increase with more hot days and warm spells, with less rainfall at times and intensified heavy rainfall at other times.
Alexandrina Council is working to prepare for and respond to a changing climate by reducing and recording greenhouse gas emissions and by becoming more resilient to changes by altering behaviour and systems.
To engage with the draft policy, head to https://mysay.alexandrina.sa.gov.au/ccp or join in on one of three Goolwa Library walk-in sessions 28 June, 8 July and 12 July) or at a virtual session online on 1 July or 6 July. More details via the link above.
For more information on what Alexandrina Council is doing to mitigate and adapt to climate change, visit their website's Climate Change page.
Feedback on the draft Climate Change Policy closes 5pm on Thursday, 14 July 2022.
