The Church of Christ in Murray Bridge was the victim of arson this weekend causing around $50 000 worth of damage.

An SAPOL officer came across several small fires in garden beds near the intersection of West Terrace and Second Street, Murray Bridge.  The patrol then noticed a fire coming from the nearby church.

MFS crews attended and extinguished the blaze.  It appears the fire had been lit in a wheelie bin placed against the wall of the church and the fire spread up the external wall into the roof.

Anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the area overnight is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
