The South Australian branch of the Australianb Meat Industry Employees Unino are throwing the staff of Thomas Foods International a BBQ on Friday at Start Reserve.

Branch Secretary Sharra Anderson says it's an opportunity to come together during this difficult time.

"It's for all the Thomas Foods workers and their families and any community members that are wishing to support the workers."

"The ideas is lets just take a breath, lets unite, they're at home on their entitlements so lets just wait for some news from the company and lets just get together and have something to eat and bit of fun and a few laughs hopefully."

5MU and PowerFM will be at the event providing entertainment for the children and the music for the day, there will be food and the opportunity for workers to hear from a rep from one of the superannuation companies who will also be available at the Community Information Centre at the Town Hall to answer any questions you may have.

The BBQ will begin at 12pm at Sturt Rerserve on Friday January 12 near the playground.
