Elderly South Coast Resident Falls For New Scam

An elderly Victor Harbor resident has fallen victim to a new style of scam that made her believe a friend had informed her of a lotto win.

The message that looked like it was from someone she knew, advised she had won $65,000 and to collect she needed to deposit money into a Commonwealth Bank Account.

She had already deposited $5000 when she realised the win was a fake, luckily before she made a second payment.

Police are again warning people to be wary of unexpected wins and for unsolicted emails, texts or letters that ask for your personal information or to make deposits into accounts or purchase iTunes cards.
