Liberal candidate for Mayo Georgina Downer has announced $200,00 funding for the Steamranger.
Ms Downer announced the cash injection at the opening of the train turntable in Victor Harbor this week, the money going towards the replacement of tracks, the upgrade of the Middleton Bridge and more work on the turntable.
Acting Steamranger president Andrew McDonough says the money has come at a good time with $50,000 alone needed for the Middleton Bridge work.
"I can't believe how happy our 200 volunteers will be with this contribution, it will absolutely go a long way to help us with out track maintenance program."
Ms Downer spent yesterday touring the Fleurieu with Federal Finance Minister Mattias Corman, stopping in to Harvest the Fleurieu to speak with dairy farmers and touring Mountain Fresh who export their juice across the globe.
