Underscoring strong jobs growth across the country, the Murraylands has recorded a decreased unemployment rate.
In the 12 months to June 2018 the region dropped from 6.5 to 5.5 percent unemployment according to the most recent Small Area Labour Markets publication.
“Without a strong economy, Australia won’t have the capacity to deliver the jobs and opportunities we need. I’m pleased to see that the benefits are flowing through to our community,” said Member for Barker Tony Pasin.
“Our plan for a stronger economy is working, but there is more work to do. “In contrast, Labor doesn’t have a plan to manage Australia’s economy, only a plan for $200 billion worth of higher taxes which would hurt our economy and leave Australians worse off.”
Drilling down into the statistics, the Coorong District Council area’s unemployment rate dropped from 5.6 to 4.4 percent in the past 12 months to June, with Murray Bridge recording a drop of nearly 2 percent, 8.1 down to 6.3 percent. The Mid Murray Council region also recorded a decrease 5.8 to 4.5 percent.
