Two level crossings on the Mt Barker to Victor Harbor railway line used by the SteamRanger, will begin upgrades this week.
The passive give way crossings will have flashing light and bell assemblies installed to improve safety for road users on the Goolwa Rd and Alexandrina Rd at Currency Creek.
Due to the bend in the road on the approach to the Alexandrina Rd crossing, Active Advance Warning signs will also be installed to give drivers enough warning to slow down on approach.
The upgrades are not expected to impact planned train services. SteamRanger Heritage Railway will be undertaking these works. $585,200 has been provided by the State Government’s Railway Crossing Safety Improvement Program.
Weather permitting, the upgrades should be completed by December.
