As Australia Post heads into its busiest time of the year, they’ll be opening 170 locations for longer starting this weekend.

The Murray Bridge Post Office will now be open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12:30pm Saturdays starting December 1st.

Australia Post General Manager Post Office Network David McNamara said extended trading hours will give customers more choice and convenience as they send and receive their Christmas gifts in time for the big day.

“We know Christmas is a really busy time of the year so we are giving our customers greater flexibility to come in and send all their presents, or pick them up, when it best suits them,” Mr McNamara said.

“With the online shopping boom continuing, we’re delivering record volumes and we want to make sure our customers have convenient access to our products and services to help them get ready for the big day.

“Last year we delivered 37 million parcels in December and we’re expecting to exceed that number this year, so it’s all hands on deck at Murray Bridge Post Office.”

Mr McNamara said Australians have shopped up a storm this year, with parcels growing 10 per cent domestically.

“Our customers love the convenience of online shopping and we want to make sure they have a great delivery experience. By keeping our doors open longer, we’re making it easier for them to come in and collect, or send, their parcels.”

Along with extended trading hours, Australia Post customers also have the option of collecting their Christmas gifts at one of 330 free 24/7 parcel lockers across the country, and can track their deliveries more easily with improvements in parcel tracking.

Earlier this month, Australia Post announced a record number of additional workers – close to 3,000 – ahead of the busy Christmas period.

Extended trading will continue until Friday, December 21.
