Rental Affordability Worst In Regional SA In Years

Keys.jpg

A new report has found rental affordability in regional areas is at it’s lowest since 2016.

Affordability has dropped by 3.4% in regional SA, higher then the country areas of any other state in Australia, with residents paying around 23% of their entire income on rent.

That number gets worse if you’re a single pensioner who pays up to 29% of their income on rent.

There are calls for an increase in the Newstart Allowance so that those who are forced to live in areas where transport and jobs are an issue just to afford to pay rent, aren’t pushed into homelessness.
