Member for Barker Tony Pasin has met with both the Federal and Local Water Ministers, again pushing for the Murray Darling Basin Plan to be delivered in full and on time.

Mr Pasin met with SA Water Minister David Spiers and his Federal counterpart David Littleproud in the Coorong on Friday, the trio also discussing the Lake Albert inter connector, a project Mr Pasin says there has been a lot of talk about and not a lot of action over the years but needs to be addressed now.

Late 2017 the then SA Water Minister Ian Hunter had announced that water cycling - the practise of raising and lowering water levels in the lakes - had reduced salinity levels, down from a peak 20,000 EC units during the Millenium Drought, continuing to fall at a reasonably consistant rate ever since.

However Meningie residents rejected the idea of water cycling in 2014, favouring the interconnector, a pipeline linking the Lkae's southern end to the Coorong, believing it would be more effective.
