Inquiry Will Look Into Fire Dangers During Harvest

Five MP’s, three Liberal and two Labor, will form a parliamentary inquiry into fire prevention during harvest.

Representatives from SA Grain Producers have welcomed the move but are concerned it will create more issues for farmers trying to do the best they can to get their crop harvested in time.

Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick has told the Murray Valley Standard says he’s confident that the inquiry will reach the right outcome saying they don’t want overzealous officers stopping farmers from getting their crops off.

A Grain Producers SA spokesperson says farmers are already taking measures to prevent fires during the season and are sharing information via txt and their own weather stations to ensure they don't put themselves or their community at risk during extreme weather.
