With tourists demanding more high quality accommodation on the Fleurieu Peninsula, a new $4 million expansion of the McCracken Country Club’s facilities has been given development approval.
The expansion will see an additional 34 rooms built in two two storey buildings at the eighth fairway, the owners saying they’re responding to requests from business to host larger conferences in the region and from tourists looking for more high quality accommodation in the region.
The 34 motel style units will be comprised of a mix of twin single bed units and double bed with spa units. The units will be contained in two by two storey buildings with building 1 to contain 22 units and building 2 to contain 12 units. The buildings will be located on the southern side of the existing car park and will utilise this car parking area with no additional spaces proposed.
The buildings will be approximately 7m high with a shale grey colourbond roof, the external wall cladding will be a mixture of custom orb, expressed fibre cement and power panel or similar in off white and charcoal colours. An existing stormwater lagoon on the golf course is to be relocated and stormwater from the new development will be directed to the new lagoon.
