Mount Barker's planned Regional Sports Hub has received State Government funding for flood lighting.
The member for Kavel, Dan Cregan, has welcomed the investment of $341,450 by the State Government for the infrastructure.
Mr Cregan was pleased to join the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing Corey Wingard MP and local Council and sporting representatives on Saturday, 22 June 2019 to make the announcement.
The funding was made possible by the State Government following an application by the Mount Barker District Council for funds through Round 1 of the Grassroots Football, Cricket and Netball Facility Program.
“This is another example of the State Government continuing to focus on providing for the future needs of our rapidly growing community,” Mr Cregan said.
“Sport is a major part of the community and this funding will ensure that facilities at the Regional Sports Hub are state of the art.”
The Mt Barker District Council is still securing funding from a range of sources for the hub, however. In May it was revealed the project was $3 million short for features like grandstand seating, sealed footpaths and a fence around the facility.
