Those most affected by a proposed three year snapper fishing ban will today appeal to the Government to re-consider.
Tackle retailers, manufacturers, and anglers are amongst a group of stakeholders planning to meet with Minister Tim Whetstone to discuss the drastic move as they say it could have devastating ramifications on business.
The State Government insists that urgent action must be taken to replenish stocks of depleting snapper. They are consulting with the community on whether there should be a full or partial fishing ban for snapper for three years.
