A dog caught in a house fire in Strathalbyn has had a lucky escape.
A single-storey home on Richardson Avenue caught alight on the morning of Tuesday 10 September.
The roof collapsed and the property was completely destroyed by the time firefighters could extinguish it.
The sole occupant of the house managed to escape with one of his dogs, but the other was thought to have perished until it returned to the house a few hours later.
Investigators are determining what sparked the blaze that caused around $150,000 in damages, though it is not believed to be suspicious.
