Parsons Beach to Goolwa on the Fleurieu Peninsula is officially the nation’s longest surf reserve.
The Encounter Coast Surfing Reserve has become the state’s third to be recognised, following approval by the National Surfing Reserve Board (NSRB).
The 40km stretch of SA coast is five times longer than the second biggest national reserve – an 8km stretch at Lennox Head in New South Wales.
The Encounter Coast Surfing Reserve Steering Committee is planning a dedication event for next year, following two years of work to get the area officially recognised.
