A long stretch of Strathalbyn’s newly developed Sandergrove Road is about to be dug up.
Upgrades to the tune of $2 million were completed in early August 2019 and were described by council as a "stunning, new boulevard-style entrance" to Strathalbyn.
Work will begin to replace and relocate around 500 metres of water main along the road from Monday February 17.
According to SA Water, the required upgrades are due to "works in the area" which damaged piping and placed kerbing and electrical poles directly above SA Water pipelines.
An additional 265 metres of main will be installed along the road in a separate project which aims to meet future demand with expected population growth in the area.
Contractor Fleurieu Civil will undertake the safety relocation and water main extension on Sandergrove Road over the next 14 weeks from Monday February 17, occurring each week Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm.
