If you’re keen on fishing and kayaking, then a new event at Bowhill later this month is just for you.
The Bowhill Kayak Fishing Competition will be held over July 27 to 29 2018, with entrants encouraged to head out onto the magnificent Murray River and earn a share in $12,000 in prizes.
For many years event organizer Shane McGrath, Chairman of the Bowhill Progress Association has been an avid fisherman growing up on the banks of the Murray at Echuca.
“Bringing a new look fishing competition for enthusiasts to enjoy has been an exciting journey and a great opportunity to profile our very special riverside town”,
“Bowhill has amazing river scenery and is the ideal place in its secluded waters with towering cliffs to enjoy fishing at its best on a kayak”.
“Kayak fishing is a fast growing sport on inland waters and we are blessed in the Mid Murray Council region with some of the most breathtaking back drops at every turn you take along the river”.
“Sneaking up on a fish on a kayak opposed to a powered boat certainly provides you with the advantage of the element of surprise”.
“The competition winner will be the longest total length of legal callop caught with the accumulated length of all fish included”.
Entry is free for spectators and even those not dropping a line in can join in with evening meals on the Friday and Saturday night at just $20 per person.
