AFP opens Mexico office in drugs fight

The Australian Federal Police is opening an office in Mexico City to help stem the flow of methamphetamines into Australia, Justice Minister Michael Keenan says.

Mr Keenan says he will formally open the AFP liaison office this week, and meet with Mexican and Columbian authorities to bolster efforts to tackle money laundering and transnational crime.

"We must tackle drug supply at its source, and an AFP presence in Mexico will progress our efforts," he said in a statement on Saturday.
