Man critical after western Sydney fight

A 52-year-old man is clinging for life in hospital after being punched in the head during a street fight in western Sydney.

Emergency services were called to Chiltern Road in Guildford about 7.20pm on Saturday, where police were told three men were arguing before two vehicles pulled up.

Witnesses said a man from one of the vehicles approached the 52-year-old victim and punched him in the head.

He was found unconscious by paramedics and taken to hospital for surgery. The man remained in a critical condition in hospital on Sunday, NSW Police said.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company and affray.

He was granted conditional bail and is expected to appear at Parramatta Local Court on July 10.
