A wanted man arrested in Melbourne after more than seven months on the run has chosen not to appear in court.
Corey Ablett, 23, said through his lawyer he did not want to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday night after being arrested at Mitcham earlier in the day.
"He's instructed that he didn't wish to come into the court room," legal aid lawyer Christina Beissmann told Magistrate Leonard Brear.
Ablett is charged with using force to escape police at a Ringwood East hospital on November 14.
It's understood Ablett was arrested hiding under the sink at transitional housing at Mitcham on Saturday morning.
He is also charged with resisting police in August 2015, and with 44 offences including stealing, theft, deception and unlawful assault throughout 2017.
Ablett did not apply for bail and has been remanded to appear in the Ringwood Magistrates Court via video link on July 17.
