Prince Posthumous EP Release Stopped By Courts

Today, the 21st of April, marks one year since the death of The Purple One - Prince. The legendary musician left an enormous legacy behind. Since his death, handlers of his estate have discovered the depths of his creations, finding thousands of unreleased demos.

Moves were made to package together 6 of those songs and a release was tabled for today of a new 6-track EP called Deliverance. A preview of the title track can be found below. Due to licensing laws, the EP was only slated for release in the US.

However, the EP was yesterday remove from online music stores after a lawsuit was filed by Prince's estate against the EP's creator. Reports suggest that company Boxill did not have the right to distribute the music publicly, having supposedly signed a confidentiality agreement with Prince when recording in 2006. Boxill has allegedly been ordered to turn over the recordings to the estate. The matter will be heard again prior to the 3rd of May.

It may be some time before we get to listen to the 'new' tracks, but until that time, enjoy the preview of Deliverance.
