Legislation to lift the Genetic Modification (GM) Moratorium on mainland SA passed parliament this week, putting the onus on councils to decide whether to apply for GM-free status.

Regional councils will have six months to consult with communities on the choice, with a final decision resting with State Government.

The President of the SA branch of the Local Government Association (LGA) Mayor Sam Telfer from Tumby Bay joins Jennie Lenman to discuss.
