Police are investigating the reported theft of rainwater from residential tanks at Crafers West.
Sometime overnight between Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 April, tens of thousands of litres of rainwater were stolen from rainwater tanks on private properties in Hillcrest Avenue, Crafers West.
It is believed a large water truck would have been needed to pump the water from the tanks.
Victim Kris told ABC Radio Adelaide on Tuesday that the missing water from her property was estimated to be worth $2,120.
“At 3:15am, my husband got up to flush the toilet and there was no water, and I’d been up at 2am and there was plenty of water, so sometime between 2am and 3:15am a big truck came along and stole 20,000 gallons [about 75,000 litres] of water,” Kris told the ABC.
“We had a big padlock, two padlocks, but really, anybody who wants to get through a padlock can.”
Anyone who saw a truck in the area, or has any CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
