Our local Federal MPs in the Murraylands, Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula have held on to their seats in this year’s Federal Election.
Rebekha Sharkie increased her hold on the Mayo electorate, winning a fourth term easily. The Centre Alliance MP saw a small reduction in her primary vote but saw the overall swing rise 1.2% with preferences, moving to 63.5%.
It has remained one of the safest non-Labor seats in the country, along with the Barker electorate, held by Tony Pasin.
Despite the electorate swinging just over three percent towards Labor, Pasin currently holds 63.6% of the vote; more than enough to secure his fifth term in parliament.
Even within the comprehensive overall Labor victory across Adelaide and the country, the Barker electorate remains a safe Liberal seat, having remained with the conservatives since the 1970s.
