GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
Encounter Bay has announced themselves as a genuine premiership contender in the Great Southern, after they upset McLaren Districts to win by 17 on Saturday as part of Round 9 play.
Encounter Bay were deadly accurate, kicking 9.1 as they held on to win despite having less scoring shots than McLaren Districts, who kicked 5.8.
Other highlights from the round included Victor Harbor getting a small slice of revenge in their grand final rematch against Myponga-Sellicks, winning by 25 points, while Mount Compass smashed Yankalilla by 64 points in a battle of finals hopefuls.
HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE (Division One results here, Country Division results here)
Mount Lofty and Hahndorf have played out another thriller in Division One of the Hills Footy League, with the Devils this time winning by 3 points on Saturday.
On a difficult winter’s day, Mount Lofty proved themselves to be premiership contenders once again by holding off the Pies in a low-scoring arm wrestle which keeps them in the top two.
Nairne Bremer remained on top with a 52-point win over an inaccurate Mount Barker and Uraidla Districts and Lobethal both won low-scoring matches of their own.
In the Country Division, Macclesfield moved into outright first with a 26-point win over Echunga and Kangarilla claimed a key 7-point win on the road against Kersbrook.
RIVER MURRAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (full results here)
Imperial have created a two-game gap between the top three and the rest of the River Murray Footy League, with a hard-fought 9-point win over Southern Mallee on Saturday.
The third versus fourth matchup was neck-and-neck throughout, however the Double Blues had the class to finish the job with Mitch Carroll and Louis De Michele named best afield in the tight win.
Elsewhere, the Coorong Cats won their 26th consecutive league match with a 41-point win over Tailem Bend, Jervois easily beat Rambler by 61 and Mannum defeated Mallee Districts by 17.
